Description:
This juried project is an exercise in student-led plan-making for the City of Blue Island, focusing on developing energy efficiency. The plan strategizes towards the major goals of a green economic future and energy efficiency for Blue Island through six criteria: equity, sustainability, resiliency, implementation, efficiency, and scalability.
The work includes careful research into the City’s existing energy environment and forming recommendations for a sustainable future, while acknowledging the specific limitations in feasibility and scale. The plan incorporates the access by diverse communities by including adaptive materials in Spanish for the predominant minority present.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge translation of planning research and recommendations by creating a visual language and hierarchy through color theory, visualizations, and document design.
- Created team and document identity with a logo by observing Blue Island features, incorporating futurism, and adjusting through feedback and ideation.
- Researched energy cost burdens on diverse households, building weatherization, waste management materials repurposing, and anti-gentrification and landmark structures ordinances.
- Managed a team on Population, Housing, and Economic data.
- Led a Design team on the production of a stylized document.
